One of the things about shooting with film is that you have to load the film. Correctly. I've done it before, though it had been a long time. I thought it went fine. After waiting days for the film to be developed at Desert Photo, I eagerly went in today to pick up my negatives and contact sheet. The technician looked at me with sympathy when I told her my name.
"I don't think the film went through the camera," she said.
None of it had been exposed.
My enthusiasm drained out of me and I was listless for several hours. I have just now, however, with the help of the instructions and most especially with Jae's help, loaded a new roll.

Josh is the Method Actor of photography. Not only does he go for an outmoded, inconvenient method of shooting pictures, but he even finds the least convenient mode of developing them. I like it.
Next you must buy your own darkroom equipment on ebay and learn to develop your own film. It's the only logical progression...
I expect to get the darkroom stuff in the next week or 2.
Does the Yashica not have a spool on the top of the left-hand side that spins when you wind the film? And by that I'm sort of asking if your car has a driver-side door that opens and closes. It should be obvious when you load the film.

Indeed, it does. I forgot that it should turn when advancing the film. Both the manual and Jae pointed that out for me when I loaded this roll. It is obvious.
This roll goes in my very own Yashica. If someone had handed it to me and said it was new out of box, I wouldn't have reason to doubt them.
