The sun also rises
Fun thing about the taking of these rose pictures. I took them with the Vivitar, which has a broken light meter. Exposure is all guess.

Counter Comrade
I've been a regular lunch customer at Jeri's for years. It's run by Jeri and her family. I sit at the counter, I know her kids. We brought James in to meet them.
This is Toni, Jeri's daughter. She works the front of the place, while Jeri cooks in back. Toni is my buddy.

Ties that bind
Took this back in April, but I think it somehow never made it to the blog. One of my favorite portraits of Jae.

We have some babysitting and a couples massage lined up for this afternoon.

He was so small
Our little boy is growing up :-)
He rolled from his stomach to his back for the third time, today. He did it the first time about a week ago. We weren't sure if it was a fluke. He's done it twice more. He's about 14 or 15 pounds. He's getting noticeably louder. He's been very vocal for a couple weeks, but the volume is really going up.
He's very alert. He'll watch you from the other room, now, and is very aware of whether or not you are paying attention to him.
It's amazing how fast they develop.

When I have seen by Time's fell hand defac'd
Alongside Dr. Seuss, I read some Shakespeare to James. Not safe. Taking great joy in reading to the little bug the other day, I happened on this sonnet.
LXIV.
When I have seen by Time's fell hand defac'd
The rich-proud cost of outworn buried age;
When sometime lofty towers I see down-raz'd,
And brass eternal slave to mortal rage;
When I have seen the hungry ocean gain
Advantage on the kingdom of the shore,
And the firm soil win of the watery main,
Increasing store with loss, and loss with store;
When I have seen such interchange of state,
Or state itself confounded to decay;
Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate—
That Time will come and take my love away.
This thought is as a death, which cannot choose
But weep to have that which it fears to lose.
Too close to home.
