Best parenting advice

The best parenting advice I've gotten so far came this morning from a co-worker.

"If you are on LSD, don't let a baby stare at you. Their eyes are like fucking lasers, man."

more James in nursery

World, meet James Noel Gentry

James, meet world.

Born 18:36 on April 11, 2008. 7 lbs, 6 ounces. 19 inches long. His mother, the hero, and he are both doing fine. I'll get more stuff up, and more info, but it might be slow. You will understand why.

A break from cemetery pictures, and a little color. This is from the Easter morning shoot. It's part of a sculpture on the campus of UNM.

DIY lighting gear (Josh as test subject)

I went to an Albuquerque/Santa Fe Flickr Meetup where folks where making their own lighting gear for photography. I had not previously met any of the folks there. They were not only welcoming and friendly, they enjoyed answering questions from a novice. Niko took this picture to demonstrate to me why you might want a grid diffuser. He didn't post the picture he took without the grid, but it didn't have the "out of the shadows" thing going.

Harlod Thompson Oklahoma

Saw Jae taking this picture first, and stole the composition from her. Little cliche, but there's a reason its done over and over.

This cemetery is a couple blocks from our house. On Memorial Day, Jae and I put flowers on any of the soldiers, graves that were a James, Edward or William. Also anyone from Illinois or Pennsylvania.

We are rich in home crafted quilts and blankets. This is the quilt my mother made for Jae and I as a wedding gift. It's gorgeous.
