A morning

When James was sick, his sleep schedule got out of wack. He really wants to get up at 4 AM, now. This morning was my turn to get up with him. I let him cry from 4 AM to 5 AM before giving up. He wanted to eat, of course. I gave him a small bottle. Don't want him to get used to a big breakfast at that time. Then he slept on my chest for 2 hours, when I then woke Jae up and got dressed and headed for the bus.

I'm not complaining, really, but lets just say I won't make progress today on cutting down my caffeine intake.

Yeah, this is my most vivid memory of the difficulty of fatherhood. As I say all of the time, James (mine) was a jerk for about year at the transition from tween to teen. Barring that, parenthood has been more fun and more rewarding with each passing year.

Babies are cute and cuddly and wonderful and all of that. But when I hear people say they sort of miss having a baby around, I wonder whether that person is a masochist or an amnesiac or what.
