I would speak

I would speak more than these emaciated words,
Which are finger prints on a window

"we hold these truths to be self evident" "all we have to fear is fear itself" "I have a dream" are these just emaciated words? are these just finger prints on a window?

Interesting response. There are many interpretations of what the voice of the poem "means." The futility of all speech, their personal attempts to communicate, or it might be about a particular moment.

It's interesting that you chose influential phrases from speeches and political writing. One to many, broad themes. "I have a dream" was great for a crowd, but how much does it tell me about the complex soup that Martin Luther King, Jr. was, as a person?

Sometime after reading your response, I read your blog, and it seems you are reacting to something in the media, in the campaign. Odd coincidence.
