New Year's Resolution

New Year's Eve I wrote Playing to Your Weakness. The thesis was that to have a real chance at keeping a resolution, it had to appeal to one of your weaknesses. That might sound odd since resolutions are usually about doing someting better, but that's the kind of cynic I am. I have made my resolution for this year.

The other day I ran across a design at that gave me a chuckle. I saw it was available on postcards. I thought, "If you got that postcard from me, you'd think I was cool." Eureka! I have my resolution. Most of my family and friends are geographically distant. I'm not good about keeping in touch.

I hearby resolve to kee in better touch this year by communicating in ways that make me look cool.

It can be cool stationairy, cool technology, whatever, as long as it makes me seem cool.

I resolve to eat more Ding Dongs this year. And what do you know? I am at this very moment working towards this goal. Yeah me.

Uh, you didn't quite get it :-)

How is the dunking coming?

No. I got it but was just having fun with resolutions. I'm working out consistently on leg strength and have probably gained a couple of inches on my jump. I'm enjoying the strength exercises, but what I really need to do is start jumping more. Motivation to break out the rope is the next step, and I think I have the heart for it.

Oh, basketball. I thought Josh was suggesting dunking the Ding Dongs - travesty!
Did you ever use those special shoes supposed to add 6 inches to your vertical leap? I always wanted to get them in college, but never could afford them. Closest I've ever come is dunking a tennis ball, though at this moment I probably can't reach the rim anymore.
